I Challenge Thee! – Yogier Than Thou Meditation Challenge

So, every yoga blog/studio/twitter out there has passed around this study about meditation and the brain.

So let’s do it.

I don’t know about you, but my meditation practice took a nosedive fairly recently (if you’d like to come aboard the excuses train, I have a few for you).

So let’s have an 8 week meditation challenge. Think of it like the 100 push-ups plan, except for meditation.

BEGINNER LEVEL

Week 1: 2 minutes per day.
Week 2: 5 minutes per day.
Week 3: 8 minutes per day.
Week 4: 10 minutes per day.
Week 5: 10 minutes per day.
Week 6: 12 minutes per day.
Week 7: 12 minutes per day.
Week 8: 15 minutes per day.

MODERATE LEVEL

Week 1: 5 minutes per day.
Week 2: 8 minutes per day.
Week 3: 8 minutes per day.
Week 4: 10 minutes per day.
Week 5: 12 minutes per day.
Week 6: 15 minutes per day.
Week 7: 18 minutes per day.
Week 8: 20 minutes per day.

BUDDHA LEVEL

Weeks 1-8: Exist in nirvana.

Just pick the level appropriate for you and get started! I think I’d like to pick a day to start the challenge … say December 15th? (a little arbitrary) Before you know it, you’ll be a daily meditator (or enlightened, if you’re at the Buddha level).
